There is nothing more wonderful than a warm spring evening in the City of Lost Angels. The air is sweet and thick with excitement on the sunset strip tonight; usually I put this to the ever changing moods of the city, but tonight is different. There seems to be more energy around than usual. As we get closer to the Key Club I finally understand why, tonight we are here to see Pig Face on their annual Free for All Tour. A little background for those that may not know what this tour is about, Free for All is a way for the artist to give back to their fans by putting on kick ass shows with reasonable ticket and merchandise prices that should fit into almost anyoneâ??s budget. Its also a way to encourage people to try some new music. You can get all kinds of things from the bands that are on the tour but it also gives you the chance to check out some of other bands that you may never have heard before. Its also a way to encourage people to try some new music. You can get all kinds of things from the bands that are on the tour but it also gives you the chance to check out some of other bands that you may never have heard before. We made it to the club just as Nocturne took the stage. Lacyâ??s voice was in perfect pitch as she slithered through the set lights. Delighting the crowd with some track from their latest disc Guide to Extinction, as always Nocturne put on an intense high energy show that was great warm up for the rest of the night. Next up for the evening was Sheep on Drugs. Let me say this, if youâ??re a fan of Sheep on Drugs you need to make sure you see them live if havenâ??t already! They were absolutely amazing! The sounds the produced could be heard for miles. As I propped myself on the railing for a better view I could feel the music running through me like the hands on a thousand lovers all over my body. Add to that the erotic images that flashed across the screens made for a phenomenal experience. At this moment the night canâ??t get any better, wonderful music all around me booze are flowing freely and there is nothing but positive energy in the room. Thatâ??s until Pig Face took to the stage. This years line up includes Nocturneâ??s Lacy Conner, En Esch formerly of KMFDM, Thrill Kill Cults Charles Levi, Bileâ??s Krztoff, Hanin Elias of Atari Teenage Riot, Curse Mackey of the Grim Faries and last but not least Pig Face founder the multi talented Martin Atkins. With a line up like in this newest incarnation of Pig Face I knew I was in for a hell of a show and they didnâ??t disappoint. Martinâ??s drumming was so intense that he broke his drum stool in the middle of a song! Hanin Elias voice rang out loud and true on lead vox and harmonies as she tore across the stage. During the show a guy in front of the stage began waiving money at her as if she were some kind of stripper. Without missing a beat she bent over and plucked the bill from his hand and ripped it to shreds, scattering the pieces across the audience. Showing him and anyone else who was watching that she wasnâ??t for sale without saying a word. When the show ended around midnight I didnâ??t want the night to end, so I went downstairs to where I loaded up on anything I was missing from the bands I saw tonight as well as some stuff from bands I didnâ??t know. If nothing else one of the greatest things about the Free for All Tour is that it gives you the chance to come up on some really amazing new music as well as things from the bands you know and love. So for now I leave you to sort out my new music and bask in the evening energy. For more info and dates for the Free For All Tour go to Undergroundinc.com
