Furze is going to drop their new album, "Reaper Subconscious Guide" on November 26th via Agonia Records. The album is a tribute of sorts to the 40th anniversary of Black Sabbath's debut album. This isn't a tribute album in the traditional sense, Furze didn't spend the last 18 months pretending they were in high school again playing Black Sabbath covers; instead Furze has tried to immulate the spirit of the album. Singer Woe J. Reaper explains it better than I can;
"This album is dedicated to the memory of the ‘70-‘75 era of Black Sabbath - without whose existence, the dark Masterflame of Metal would not Reality see … NOTE: this is not a tribute album, but it's our sincere 40th anniversary birthday card (since their debut LP) to the band which we feel added THE best to the rock and metal scene....also to FURZE. It was no coincidence that we covered 'Electric Funeral' in 1998 on our 2nd demo, y'know... Fanatic fans we may be, but that doesn't subtract from the lyrical and musical originality we're Urged to write. As blues influenced Sabbath - Sabbath influenced FURZE; needless to say, FURZE are not even near the immense writing power of Geezer/Iommi/Ward... The lyrical content of Sabbath had/have a far weaker influence on us, though. After all, its not about mathematics...well, at that time, it's about having had a good listen to The Reaper! PolyTriad Fingerprints ? You bet...."

With summer coming to a close, it's time to gear up for the fall shows. The guys seem to be excited to get back on the road, but I don't know why they decided to book their one LA area show in the wasteland that is Canoga Park. Dark Funeral Line-Up Changes |

After six years of mayhem E.M. Caligula and B-Force have announced that they will be parting ways with the rest of Dark Funeral loosing a bassist and your vox all in the same week is brutal fuckin blow, but I'm pretty sure Dark Funeral will come out of it heavy as always. Here is what guitarist Lord Ahriman had to say about the line up changes. *insert beastly metal voice here*;
"Ave! The dawn of a new dark era has risen, and a new hellish chapter has begun. Despite the circumstances, I must say that the band and I are extremely motivated and excited to start a new chapter in the saga that is Dark Funeral. We already have some killer plans for the future. And all I can say at this point is that we'll be moving forward with full force and without mercy.
Those of you who've followed Dark Funeral since the beginning in 1993, surely know that this is not the first time we've undergone a major lineup change. And whatever some people may have thought or whined about, no one can deny the fact that I/we've always succeeded in recruiting new and amazing musicians to move forward and reach new heights with the band. There is absolutely no doubt in our mind that this will again be the case.
On August 21st we performed our last show with Emperor Magus Caligula at the Summer Breeze Festival in Germany. Since this was a very special performance in many ways, we not only put on our biggest pyro show ever, we also captured this gig with 10 cameras (including one crane). So you can be sure to expect a DVD release from this killer show in the near future. More info regarding the DVD will come in due time… Since parting ways with E.M. Caligula, it come as no surprise to the rest of us, that B-Force would follow the same path and throw in his towel too. So I wish to thank him for the six fantastic years he'd been with us on bass. It’s been a pleasure indeed working together. Yes I realize that Lord Ahriman took the long way just to say that they have parted ways with no hard feeling, but what do you expect from a guy that puts "Lord" in his handle. Anywho, here is the official statement from the soon to be departed B-Force: "After six awesome and crazy years with Dark Funeral, I have decided to leave the band. It's my own decision to leave one of the best bands/friends in the world, but I feel that I need to move forward in life and do something else music-wise. There are absolutely NO hard feelings between DARK FUNERAL and myself. We are and will continue to be good friends! I want to thank the band and all the fans all over the world. You kick ass everywhere I've been playing with the band. I thank you all. May the dark forces be with you.' So now the search is on to find a vocalist and a bassist that can live up to the magnificent evil that is Dark Funeral, Rumor has it that they already have a bassist lined up and are looking for the perfect vox. And since Dark Funeral seems to be prepared to take their sweet ass time to find a new vocalist, it may be awhile before we get anything new from Dark Funeral. |
