If your looking for some new music thatâ??s going to set your soul on fire you are going to have to pass up Aidenâ??s latest effort Nightmare Anatomy. While the music isnâ??t horrible it blends in with all the other EMO/Goth/Metal stuff that is saturating the airwaves now. Think along the lines of My Chemical Romance but a little louder. With dark lyrics that try to be deep, romantic and profound, itâ??s actually a bit of a shame that Aiden blends into the musical landscape. There are some pretty good guitars in there and a decent singer. I guess only time will tell if Aiden with evolve from a musical flash in the pan or a band of substance.
A few weeks ago a reader recommend I check out Atreuyâ??s latest effort The Curse. I picked up the disc but as I got swept up in work and the holidays it ended up on the back burner for another couple of weeks. Now as I listen to the disc I am kicking myself in the ass for putting this on off for so fucking long! This is one of the best cdâ??s Iâ??ve heard all year. What makes its so cool you ask? I suppose we could start with the incredible drum work by Brandon Saller. Doing some truly incredible things with his drum kit he floats through the music effortlessly commanding respect from the listener. A well-written disc their lyrics are as dark as they are meaningful as they explore everything from heartache to the meaning of life. Brought to life by Alex Varkatzasâ?? vocals. Right Side of the Bed and Demonology and Heartache are my personal favorite tracks, but there really isnâ??t a bad track on this one. The holidays may have us all fuckin broke but this one is worth your last few bucks!
One of my favorite stories as a kid was the Chronicles of Narnia. I remember being so fascinated with the series and the thought of finding magical lands hidden at the back of the closet that one day I dove into my closet headfirst. Instead of magic and adventure what I found was a large wooden wall and a huge bump on my head. Needless to say I was crushed when I didnâ??t find anything in the closet. I sat for days trying to figure out why nothing was there, until one day it hit me just as hard as the wall that made the bump on my head, I was looking for Narnia in a closet not a WARDROBE! Only problem was we didnâ??t have a wardrobe in the house. I ran to my parents and begged them for a wardrobe, believing that it would be the doorway to an incredible adventure. I remember my folks smiling at me and saying, â?? You donâ??t need a wardrobe, there is plenty of room in your closet â?? I was heartbroken, but quickly got over it when given some ice cream or whatever it is you give kids to make them feel better.

Round Midnight is the latest effort from The Coffin Lids. An awesome blend of 60â??s style pop and punk this disc is as fun as it is hardcore. With tracks like Whisky Drinkin Woman (which is slowly becoming my personal theme song) make you want to pound some booze and party while Shake and Tonight Your Going to Die in My Garage, can only be described as fuckin fun. You will defiantly have a good time with Round Midnight, but itâ??s The Coffin Lids for fucks sake! Did you expect anything less??
